Welcome to Mapleton School District #32 Calendar | Employment Information | Student Insurance | H1N1 Influenza (Swine Flu)
Our school is located in the town of Mapleton, Oregon serving approximately 196 students combined from the communities of Deadwood, Swisshome, and Mapleton in grades K-12. We have one high school (grades 9-12), one middle school (grades 7-8), and one elementary school (grades K-6). All schools and athletic fields are located on a single campus. The Mapleton School District and the Oregon Department of Education has recognized the Mapleton Elementary School as a High Performance Learning Community. It is one of five high performance learning communities in Oregon. This honor qualified this district for participation in a $6.5 million federal grant wherein Mapleton shared its educational excellence with other districts. Beginning in the 2009-2010 school year, all of our schools will operate on a four-day schedule, Monday-Thursday. While it will take some adjustment from teachers, staff, students, and parents, we believe that Mapleton School District will be able to provide a quality education to all of our students with this new schedule while also reducing our costs and lowering our absenteeism. Many schools in our county will be operating on this schedule, and research on the subject shows that, once implemented, most patrons like this schedule. Indeed, most would not go back to a five-day week if given the opportunity. Please note that you will need a PDF reader (such as Acrobat Reader) to view these files.

A letter was sent home the week of September 21 to notify parents/students of the plan. The plan is posted here for on-line viewing. It contains the specific steps that Mapleton will take to prevent/curtail outbreaks. It also has links to other government sites with additional information regarding the virus. (The plan is also available in the school offices or by mail upon request.)
