Welcome to Mapleton School District #32
Our goal is to provide a supportive and safe learning environment where students are encouraged and empowered to reach their educational and personal potential.
Mapleton School District (MSD) is a 1-A school district located in Mapleton, Oregon, one hour west of Eugene-Springfield, within the Siuslaw National Forest on the Siuslaw River. We serve approximately 160 students from the communities of Deadwood, Swisshome, and Mapleton and are composed of three schools – Mapleton Elementary School, Mapleton Middle School, and Mapleton High School. All schools and athletic fields are located on a single campus.
MSD operates on a four-day school week. This schedule is designed to lower absenteeism and to give students a unique opportunity to perform community service or gain job skills from employment on Fridays. The College and Career Center can help students find volunteer and/or employment opportunities in our area.
We also offer an average class size of fewer than 15 students. These small class sizes allow our caring and close-knit staff to know each and every individual student. In addition, our certified teaching staff average over 11 years of teaching experience.
Mapleton Middle School and High School Athletics belong to the Mountain West League. We offer students the opportunity to compete in football, volleyball, basketball, and track and field. Unlike many schools, Mapleton does not impose any athletic or “pay to play” fees. Additionally, our school district provides free breakfast and lunch to all students (no application required). Students enrolled at Mapleton Elementary also receive a free vegetable or fruit snack during the day.
Beginning in 2015-2016, AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) will be implemented district-wide. AVID is a global non-profit organization dedicated to closing the achievement gap by preparing all students for college and other post-secondary opportunities. All certified teachers at MSD are now AVID trained. See the full list of Oregon schools joining the AVID movement!
