Mapleton Middle School
Mapleton Middle School has approximately 30 Seventh through Eighth Grade students. With our small enrollment comes the added benefit of having lower class sizes in each classroom. Our average class size for the 2016-2017 school year is 14.
At Mapleton Middle School, we help students make the transition between grade school and high school. We believe that a successful transition requires both academic preparation as well a healthy dose of ‘life skills’ that range from a general social maturity to organization, communication, and time management. Students take core academic classes including language arts, mathematics, science, social studies, physical education, health, and foreign language. Students also have elective options to explore their own interests including art and woodshop.
Mapleton Middle School is an AVID Middle School. AVID stands for Advancement Via Individual Determination. As an AVID Middle School, we are raising student expectations and the rigor of our instruction. Staff have worked hard to provide organizational structures for each student to ensure success for ALL students!
Mapleton Middle School students are encouraged to participate in school sports and after-school activities hosted by the Student Council throughout the year. We offer students the opportunity to compete in Football, Volleyball, Basketball, and Track & Field. Unlike many schools, Mapleton does not impose any athletic or “pay to play” fees. Additionally, our school district provides free breakfast and lunch to all students (no application required).
As always, if you have any questions or need additional information, please contact your child’s teacher or the Middle School Office.
