Mapleton Elementary School has approximately 70 Kindergarten through Sixth Grade students.  We have one Full-day Kindergarten classroom, a First/Second Grade blended classroom, a Third/Fourth Grade blended classroom and a Fifth/Sixth Grade blended classroom.  With our small enrollment comes the added benefit of having lower class sizes in each classroom.

Mapleton Elementary School is an AVID Elementary School.  AVID stands for Advancement Via Individual Determination.  As an AVID Elementary, we are raising student expectations and the rigor of our instruction.  Staff have worked hard to provide organizational structures for each student to ensure success for ALL students!  Each student will have an AVID Binder or Folder that they will bring home every night.  In their AVID Binder/Folder will be an agenda of their day, including what homework they have, what projects are coming up, when tests and quizzes are and a list of any upcoming events.  The AVID Binder/Folder is a way to keep parents actively involved in their child’s education.

Mapleton Elementary School offers several opportunities for parents to become involved in their child’s school and classroom.  We have several parent and family activity nights planned throughout the school year.  Please watch in your child’s AVID Binder/Folder for information to come home about upcoming Parent Nights.  Also, if you are interested in volunteering in your child’s classroom, chaperoning school field trips, or just coming to eat lunch or breakfast with your child, please let your child’s teacher know.  We welcome parents in our school and classrooms.  Please note that in order to volunteer in a classroom or chaperone a field trip, you must have passed a current background check (forms can be obtained in the school office).  A background check is free of charge and is good for two years.

Mapleton School District currently operates on a four-day school week.  Most weeks, students attend school on Monday through Thursday.  Please see the Academic Calendar for specific school days and holidays.

As always, if you have any questions or need additional information, please contact your child’s teacher or the Elementary Office.
