Senior Spotlight: Natalee Stevens
Senior Spotlight: Natalee Stevens
Ms. Natalee Stevens has been a student at Mapleton High School since the middle of her ninth-grade year. During her 3½ years at MHS, she has been a powerful force for good.
Natalee is this year’s Salutatorian and has participated in volleyball, basketball, track and field, and cross country. Natalee participated in the State Track and Field championships in the events of the 400, 1,500, 3,000, and the Pole Vault. She medaled in three events. She has served as an Outdoor School counselor and helped build tiny homes designed to provide shelter for individuals without adequate housing.
Her favorite class at MHS has been Engineering because of the hands-on and independent learning opportunities it provided.
Natalee’s favorite teachers are Mr. Burruss and Coach Clemons because, in her words, “they have always been there” for her and helped her grow as a person.
Her favorite Mapleton memory was during her junior year in Engineering when the class created a band focused on wastewater and wrote songs together. One funny memory was the bus ride to districts during her freshman year when the group was halfway to Bend before realizing Dom had forgotten his running shoes!
In the fall, Natalee will attend the University of Montana Western, where she plans to major in secondary education and mathematics.
Natalee’s advice to her peers is: “Don’t get so caught up in school that you forget to enjoy the experience.”
Good luck, Natalee, as you pursue your career as a teacher. Thank you for your drive, determination, and tenacity as you strive to improve both yourself and the lives of those around you. Your contributions to MHS and the Mapleton community are greatly appreciated.
